Family Ties

When my husband and I named our 3 daughters, we created “family ties” to our homelands. Our eldest daughter, Holland Grace, was named after my husband’s Dutch heritage and she was given her maternal grandmother’s middle name. Our second daughter, Madison Isabel, was named after Madison, Wisconsin, the capital of my home state of Wisconsin, USA, and she was given her paternal grandmother’s middle name. First Lessons

This week I get the chance to go visit my 8 year old daughter’s year 4 (3rd grade) class and talk to the kids about money…about the importance of learning how to accurately add and subtract 3 or 4 digit numbers, so they can count their pocket money, ensure they are given correct change when buying something, etc. To make it interesting for them, I plan to bring in a little sample of some foreign currency that we’ve collected on…
